What did you do with your RV this weekend? Getting this weekend's thread started.

Not too promising in the DFW area Saturday morning LOL.

I'm doing some Vx/Vy/Vg flight testing in my airplane. It was always on the to-do list for me -- and the previous owner who installed the Sensenich 2G0M8-NS/C72RG-5 two-blade composite propeller on the aircraft. Prior to this prop, it had a two blade metal FP Sensenich.

Interestingly, when I bought this aircraft, I took a semi-educated guess at the numbers based on what I've read here on VAF, and so far I'm finding it's not too far afield from those.

I also re-upped my night landing currency at a couple of local airports last night, and am starting to prefer 3 point landings again. For a long time I was a 3 point guy in this airplane. Then I really started preferring wheel landings. Now I'm back on the other side again. Perhaps I'm just equally bad at both?

Neighborhood fly-out for breakfast at Minden on Saturday featured three RV’s (both the Val and Tsam were out front in the hangar and Mikey was stuck in back…..)! The Dakota might be “slow”, but it brought four full-sized people…. Meanwhile, I was doing my best Fiske Arrival practice following the Jabiru in the pattern.

Flew from Vegas to Catalina Island yesterday (14th). Absolutely gorgeous day and they had lots of airplanes there. Waited over an hour for our $100+ hamburgers.

Catalina has been on my bucket list for a while and I couldn't have picked a better day for it. Very cool approach into the runway with both ends of the runway ending at a steep cliff.

Here is us landing on Rwy 22 after an initial to the overhead....

Ron,
I'm sure you are skilled and experienced.
You are only as good as your next landing.

Sunday was for here, a spendid no cloud, almost no wind and no turbulence day. Crisp at -8°C with stellar performance !!
Had to go for a short ride to get the bugs out of the RV and me.
It was as close to a perfect flight, if such a thing exists.
A Cherokee pilot, trying to locate me after takeoff, asked on the air "Where is the aerobatic plane ?"
That was a first for me... :ROFLMAO:
What a great flying machine !!!IMG_0528.jpg

Great shot! Right upper corner: is that a helmet?

Mainly Fettling, as have been doing since January, our strip is waterlogged. The downside of some grass strips.
Aircraft engine is on homemade dehydrator, its also got fresh oil and filter that had only 1hr on it.

Fettling:
I repaired a fuel leak from a fuel sender gasket, had to remove the sender and proseal it back in.
Ive fitted a new interior from lemke - yay! Im particularly proud as I had to make two seat backs from plans that actually came out well, considering im a total novice at building and riveting
Ive re-weighed the aircraft
Ive fitted an ipad
I bought a second hand outdoor cover for a quarter the price of new…it fits perfectly!

And this weekend I braved it and fitted Andair lockable fuel caps, enjoying that prosealing delight. it seems to have worked out ok thanks to some good guidance and advice from Ed mentioned earlier up this thread in the RV3 image. RV community is so strong.

Hopefully I will get to fly again some time soon if the UK weather improves.

meantime its great to read about all the fun everyone is having and see the incredible pictures and browse and learn from VAF - it inspires me on while patiently waiting :)
