eAPIS FlashPass Review

I’ve been researching and preparing for a Bahamas trip and while listening to a webinar another listener mentioned the FlashPass app as a user friendly way to submit eAPIS manifests. After the webinar I started the process of applying for all the required government permits, which include: two required radio licenses, the US customs decal, and then the eAPIS. By the time I got to the eAPIS website I’d had my fill of government online forms. I got through the gubment’s eAPIS process and even submitted a manifest for a dummy flight, but after entering just one flight with one passenger I was ready to find an easier way. I remembered the mention of FlashPass and decided to download the app to my iPhone. The app allows you to store all the required information needed for future flights in a very simple and user friendly way. After you do the setup it takes less than five minutes to submit your manifest (I just created one and it took 2 minutes 20 seconds, and that was just the second time using the app).

The other thing you’ll never get from the government’s website is personalized customer support. After submitting the first FlashPass manifest, I got a text from a FlashPass rep with recommendations on how to improve my submission. I had left the custom’s decal number blank because I hadn’t received it yet and she pointed that out. She also pointed out some of the important things to remember like calling US Customs one hour prior to arriving back in the US and where to find each Customs office phone number within the app. Lastly, she asked that I save her cell number for use anytime I needed further help with FlashPass. Five star service! I’d highly recommend FlashPass to anyone that’s planning flights from the US to the Bahamas, Canada, Mexico, etc..

Good information…thanks for the update! I’m also planning on doing some island hopping here in the near future, so I’ll definitely check out flash-pass.

Border Crossing

There is also EASYEAPIS that works just as good as FlashPass that you can use as an option..

Both are approved by CBP for EaPis Manifest filling.

I’ve had FlashPass for a year now and there isn’t anything as easy as this.

FlashPass saves all aircraft and owner/operators, etc. I use and passengers profiles, and even emergency contact information for easy retrieval for subsequent flight entry. Manifests can be saved conveniently for making pax changes or for future recall and duplication for use again as well.

Regarding customer support, the actual owner (Art) called me on more than two occasions to help simplify some of my concerns with my first couple of submissions. He has tutorial videos for most anything that I’ve come across.

Give it a try. It’s free for thirty days. You’ll love it. I suggest that if you’re a casual traveler and not going as often as we do, use the single submission usage fee as opposed to the annual subscription.

1.) File FlashPass at least an hour before departing the US. Yes, you can leave from any airport, including a grass strip AND NOT land anywhere before crossing outbound. Fill in his APP’s blanks and simply enter the “Airport ICAO” and then “Actual Place” fields.
2.) File MORE THAN 2 HOURS BEFORE DEPARTURE when leaving for the USA.
3.) Wait for the departure EMail from APIS (usually takes about 3-5 minutes)
4.) WHEN Returning Call CBP (at least TWO-2 HOURS BEFORE DEPARTURE-they told me I can call weeks or months before but at least two-hours before departure) where you plan to land for clearing INBOUND TO THE US and get landing clearance (ask for his/her initials AND keep them handy upon arrival). If you’re running late outbound m, call and tell them.

I talk to a lot of people that get so anxious over this process. It is extremely easy to navigate if you just follow the 1-4 steps above. I’ve been requesting overflight recently to get further inland in Florida when returning from the Bahamas and I have never been denied to overfly SUA and FPR at 10k feet all the way to KLEE. Coastal CBPs can be busy as they can get called out to assist with Cruise Ships, Cargo, etc.

Once you get FlashPass you’ll never look back!

Recently returned to the US from Mexico using Flashpass and the process couldn’t have been easier. Customs process at Miami Executive was also a breeze.

There’s something about US government websites, it’s like they’re statutorily required to be god-awful. The Treasury Department site for buying I-Bonds is my current favorite, but I haven’t yet tried to amend my AWC. 🤣
