DIY vs purchased carpet kits

I am opening up my RV10 for an assisted condition inspection. For about half the carpet, it seems like I would need to remove the seatbelts to get the carpet out. I cut the carpet holes larger instead of doing that. The remaining carpet already had larger holes.

It looks all jacked up and I think this needs to be done better. For the people that sell carpeting kits, do they make the holes small or large enough slide over the seat belts? Do the interior holes have edging applied?

Any pointers if I replace in some DIY manner? How much raw material do I need for a 10?

Aero Sport has a good set up with the carpet. Everything fits good, all holes are cut out and has binder on the edges.

1. Are the holes large enough to go over the seatbelts?

I have the aerosport carpet. It is decent quality and fits real good but not perfect. All the carpet edges are bound. As for holes for seat belt yes they have slots where the seat belts mount. They also have holes where the heat vents blow. The carpet attaches by placing hook Velcro on the aluminum surface. The back of the carpet sticks to the hook.

I think my current carpet might have been from Aerosport, it certainly resembles what they sell.
It covers the foot wells x4. Center tunnel top and sides, cutouts for the rudder cables and seat belts. My seat belts did not fit through the openings. They also go under the rear seats. Basically everything like a car, just not up the exterior of the fuse.

Vic's wife DIY with some nice carpet. What I can find raw material wise is likely $400 ish for carpet and trim. DIY might require figuring out the velcro or sourcing the black material that attaches directly to velcro. Aerosport is call it $1200 after shipping. Nobody has answered if they had to remove the seatbelts to get the carpet installed. Nobody mentioned if the holes where the vents and seatbelts had binding. Binding will keep it aging longer better in my opinion. Larger seat belt holes also make this easier to pull in and out.

One might need a better sewing machine for the edging but we have access to one that a boating family member has.

Here are pictures of the carpet for our new RV-10. There are three sets of 2. The first is the pilot/copilot foot carpet, the 2nd the back seat carpet, the third the baggage compartment. The dimensions for the first two pieces totaled is 40 high by 30 wide (front) 40 high by 25 wide (rear) and 40 high by 30 wide (baggage). The cut out in the 2nd pic goes around the seat belt connections.
Over the 16 years of ownership, we replaced the carpet 3 times. The only side panel we use carpet for is the one across from the baggage door. This new carpet is probably 1/4 inch thick and rubber? backed so it is stiff. We do not use anything to hold it to the floor. It stays in place.

There is no binding where the vent holes or slots for seat belts. It’s not needed. I used a lighter to melt the edges so it will never fray in those areas. Yes you take the rear seat belts off to install carpet. 5 minute job. Front seat belts can be removed as well for easier install. It’s very nice carpet but the price has gotten outrageous since I’ve purchased mine. I’m sure you could find carpet and make this a DIY for much less.
