G3X Backup File

If my G3X fails and I have to replace it. The new one would come with the latest Garmin software.
Vans has the basic RV 12 configuration software for download.
However, all the settings that I have made to the system, still needs to be saved.
Question: Can I perform a backup from my existing system that includes the Vans configuration along with all the settings I’ve made. That would really be helpful if I have to replace my G3X. Then I would only have to do one down load and all would be back and ready to fly.

If you need to replace a GDU display, all important configuration settings will be stored in the configuration module that lives inside your PFD1 wiring connector, and the new GDU will load these settings automatically. You won't have to do anything special to make this happen - see section 32.2.1.3 in the current G3X installation manual (revision AZ).

But if you really want to make sure, there is a process for exporting your system configuration to the SD card, from which you can store a backup copy for a rainy day. This is documented in section 30.4.5 of the installation manual.
