Carb heat options - rv6

I am trying to figure out a carb heat plan for my o320 engine. The exhaust was changed to vettermen and carb heat was not properly provisioned.

It has one muffler on one side for cabin heat.

Trying to figure out a good plan.

Option 1 - should I go with vans stock option - I understand it might not be super effective and might not work with the vettemen exhaust. I am in California so not flying around wet weather as much but still would like to a safe option.

Option 2 - or should I go with something like this -

Option 3 - does robin or somebody else makes a muff that will have two outlets instead of one and still effective for both carb and cabin heat or is that not the best idea.

If I go with option 2 i will to have create another inlet - is back of the engine compartment better or in front in this scenario.

Lastly the plane did come with a three port muffler- I might be able to reuse it by closing one port or should I just buy another one. It will not fit rear or the exhaust.

Some pictures showing current setup

RV's are pretty "warm" to start with, and most folks observe very little RPM drop with carb heat pulled on. I DIY made my cabin heat muff and my carb heat muff, but the simple ones that are basically open on one side and draw air accross the pipe will do just fine. No need for ram air to the carb heat (draws from withing cowing) and just leave your current cabin heat as is. I've attached my RV-4 set-up for example.

Thanks for the confirmation. I went and looked at some certified planes carb arrangement at a friends local shop and saw similar arrangements on other planes as well.

Ended up finding robins contact info and have ordered a muff that looks like a similar arrangement.

You don’t happen to have any templates for that carb heat muff? I love the look of that. Looks like it ought to work way better than the stock vans one that I currently have.

I don't have templates, just a quick craft up of scraps. Made a form block to shape the stainless parts the fit to the pipe. I'm a structures specialist on airliners for a living, so metal work is second nature to me..makes things a bit easier.

mmmh... I can smell a business opportunity here 😅
Nice looking and I might kinda copy that when my original gives the ghost up...
