Another option is that if you cut the safety cable off the filter and replace it with safety wire the hole in that lug is big enough for a second safety wire to the sensor. You're going to have to replace that fancy cable with safety wire at the first filter change anywayCould someone please confirm that I have the probe in the right location and it’s NOT supposed to be at the orange circle?
Bonus point if you can tell me where to safety wire it to. I’m thinking I cut the orange circle wire and wire the two in-line and through the unseen hole on the block.

Definitely some inconsistencies here between Chapter 43 and Chapter 49. Chapter 43 shows your circled location, while 49 shows where you actually installed it. I suspect Chapter 43 shows the non-EXP version. I'm not sure about Chapter 49.
Here's how I safetied mine.View attachment 104489
Lower right of the photo shows the temperature probe under the silicone boot. The chapter 43 illustration is wrong. There is no flow past the probe if installed in the end of the main gallery (the location shown in the line drawing), particularly when the vernatherm tip is extended to block the bypass hole. Might work, sort of, when the bypass is open or just partially closed, but even then it would always show the temperature of oil coming from the sump, not the oil cooler return.
There is always flow past the probe when installed in the top of filter adapter, like in Marc's photo (post 1), and it is downstream of the point where sump oil and oil cooler return mix together.
49_14.jpg (above, post 5) does not show a temperature probe location. That's the accessory case out-to-the-cooler port

Anyway, I think I’m clear on this. My engine is still in the unopened box in the garage. But it’s coming out soon!
