Piano hinge cowl

When I built my 10, I installed piano hinges on the top, side to the fuselage, and sides of the upper and lower cowl to each other. I'm building another plane and would like to do the same. I no longer have the RV10 plans to build/install those piano hinges. Can I get those pages of plans how to do that?

If you give Vans your build number, they will make the full set of plans available to you. Let me know if you need sooner and I can post for you.

I would love to go the other way and get rid of mine. Such a pain! LOL!
They have to be built correctly to work well. However, some folks have had some success “adjusting” the hinge eyes to get them to work better.
What symptoms do you have?

Just painful to get in. Getting out is easy. I clean and lube etc, but still problematic. Easy to scratch the cowls etc. I would love those quick release setup!

Me too and just install dzus or camlocks, maybe get brave and try that, sort of tired greasing up the pins and after 10 years are wearing a litte.

Piano hinges can work well if alignment is spot-on, but access and long-term wear are the real considerations. Many builders switch back after maintenance headaches. While weighing options and reading experiences, I sometimes unwind briefly with https://casinosanalyzer.com/free-slots-online/20-Burning-Hot to avoid overthinking.
Thanks for the advice.

There are two types of hinge pin cowls. Those that were built well and people love and those that were not and people hate.
For any new builders. The hinge pins work extremely well but must be aligned and bedded before riveting. Lots of other places in the forum to learn how to do it right and be a lover not a hater.
