RV-4 forward "baggage box"

I just noticed vans sells a forward baggage kit for the RV-4. Basically a glove box above your legs that hinges down, it might be pretty handy. Has anyone installed one and could maybe share a picture or two?

I have a similar one that came with mine when I bought the plane. Not sure if vans sold them

I considered installing one in my -4 but happened to have a medium sized tank bag left over from my dual sport dirt bike days.
It sits atop the center battery box under the panel. It is quite handy.! The tank magnets were removed and Velcro patches installed to secure it to the airframe.

I’m fortunate that there is no lower instrument panel “T” extension down to the center console. Otherwise access to the bag would be awkward.
My Rocket has said extension that was originally designed to house a center radio stack. I ended up with a G3X panel and was able to make a conventional map box for that space.

I built a center consol and incorporated a very simple Tablet/map/glove glasses "slot" just above the X-ponder. It's lined in dash fabric with no door on it and angled slightly down. Deep enough for a folded map. I'm not sure I'd want to fool with a drop down type box while flying, and with the shoulder harness tight, my slot is accessible, however my Nexus tablet I use for GPS will slide out during take-off roll power.

I flew my -4 for over 20 years with the drop-down drawer. It was one of the best add-on kits ever designed.
you can keep everything you need in there. Water, charts, flashlight, batteries, rags, pens, pencils, tablet AND a "canopy
destruction" tool in case of..... I now have an RV-3B with the xponder mounted below the panel. No room for a drawer.
I'm pissed (may I use that expression on the forum)? I'm 82, so I don't know how long i will continue to fly. But If I make it to
next summer, I will remove the transponder, and build a drawer. Possibly big enough, that i can install the xponder inside.

I built a center console which brought a lot of things down from the panel there was really no room for. Pictures: the console sitting on the Library floor, map etc slot very evident. Old photo of the console with........what were those called?..........oh, yeah: maps and KA-BAR knife (canopy escape tool and generally good thing to have) evident. What it looks like now..... LOVE my center console! And, as seen, it is easily removable to access the battery etc.

Yes, the drawer is full width. A center panel was then constructed to accomodate the Radio, Transponder and the old style fuel gauges.
