Sealing around canopy and rear windows?

I am having my airplane painted soon. I would like to know what most people are doing to seal the windows from moisture.
My painter wants to run a bead of pro seal around the plexiglass windows and canopy.

(Hope you don’t mind my add on)
Does the sealant get painted or does it go on after the paint? Any pictures would be great for either way.

I have seen both ways. There is a specific Proseal product for this pupose. See PPG PR-1425 Class B - Canopy / Windshield Sealant. Available from a number of different suppliers, it is not the same as fuel tank sealant.
