RV4 exhaust/intake clearance issue

I have a Vetterman 4 pipe exhaust on a 0-320. On cylinder #1, the clearance between the exhaust pipe and the intake manifold seems very close. The exhaust pipe is only about 1/2 inch from the intake pipe coupling. Not even sure there is enough room for a heat shield. Wondering whether I should source a silicone intake coupling. Anyone else have this problem ? If so, How did you address it ? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I fabbed up a simple heat shield out of scrap ss sheet and retained it with safety wire, works good.

Here is mine, I didn't see any need for a heat shield. I don't have an actual measurement, just had these pics handy. I am running an O320H2AD, but the exhaust is same for all variants.

I switched my nitrile rubber intake coupling hoses over to silicone only after I converted my engine to fuel injection, Silicone couplings are not generally recommended for carbureted engines due to their direct exposure to fuel.
