Seeking RV-10 Pre-Buy Inspection Information

FlyBigRed

I'm New Here
I'm interested in an RV-10 across the country from my location. I need inputs in finding a proven way of getting a Pre-Buy Inspection before purchase. All roads to this forum's expertise. I look forward to hearing any advice, coaching, inputs, and warning this knowledge-base community has to assist me in the buying process.

I have owned/bought 4 planes. 4 pre buys. Vic Syracuse did the last one, RV10, and was the most expensive. His is/was also the only one worth every penny and then some. He is near Atlanta and the plane was near San Antonio.

That is me. Where is the plane located. I have done 4-5 rv10 inspections . I built one as well.
Given your experience do you have a pre buy inspection template that you use for an RV-10? Any other online resources/questions that you'd suggest I review in addition to a good pre-buy?

I have a pretty robust set of guidelines and checklist items that i use, but many times seeing one thing causes me to look at others based upon what i saw. So it is not just a matter of checking off items. I also often see things that aren’t on my checklist. After a while, you have seem so many issues, your eyes just go there looking for repeats. I don’t publish my guidelines.

Your best option is to find someone you trust and is willing to talk through all of the issues before the prebuy. Have saved owners a good bit of time and money excluding planes before the inspection, based upon data available along with the buyers goals and risk tolerance. Some are looking for a lindy winner and others seeking value. Some even accept issues to make it affordable.

Sorry, but have no experience with the 12. Could probably manage the airframe portion, but know nothing about rotax and don’t believe i could adequately identify issues because of that and flushing out engine issues is how to avoid major risk. Part of my value is knowing the common issues with building and just don’t have that for the 12.
