Has anyone had recent contact with the company? I filled out the contact form last week and have heard nothing back. Wife is pretty adamant about having parachute installed if I can find an RV 10 we like and purchase it. If that gets her and the kids to travel in the plane I will put it in.

I don’t need a debate about how you don’t need it. This is a simple question to figure out of the company is still making a kit to install it in the 10.

I have talked to a couple of folks that haven’t had much luck with communication. Almost seems as if they aren’t interested in experimental applications…

Assuming "the company" you're referring to is BRSAEROSPACE, they will be the only reliable source for your questions.

Sadly, IMHO if the vendor is non-responsive to interested buyers, they're probably not a joy to work with after the sale either.

Yeah that’s usually been my experience in other things in life.

I noticed their address is now in North Carolina. I don’t think that is where they used to be several years ago but I could be mistaken.

I installed a BRS when I built mine, but I haven't need to contact them since I finished construction in December 2022. They were in North Carolina at the time, so the move you are referring to may have been a long time ago. I have no idea if the guy I worked with at BRS is still there, but his email , name, and phone was

Will you need them for inspection/repacking? Typically 6-10 years according to grok. Just a thought.

I’ll try to email him directly.

Either this person doesn’t work there anymore or their email has changed because it says undeliverable to that email address.

I’ll try calling sometime this week and see what I can find out.

Not opposed to looking at an older SR-22 to get the parachute but the operating cost of it just seems unbelievable compared to what it seems the RV-10 is.

I recently purchased the parachute and rocket. It seems the company isn't responsive to individual buyers, I therefore went through one of their retailers / installers: South Florida Sport Aviation. I received the chute about 5 weeks after the order. The manufacturing date lies between my order and the delivery, so they are making them one at a time it seems.

The BRS Aerospace website used to have a page devoted to the Vans aircraft options, including the RV-10. Now it's gone. However, they do show Sling as one of their "partners" on the bottom of the home page. Maybe because Sling designed their aircraft to use a parachute and Sling also produces finished aircraft at their factory (including parachutes), that puts them a notch above those building in their garage.

Honestly, BRS Aerospace needed some unique, cosmetically awkward engineering to get parachutes to work on Van's aircraft because the inclusion of a parachute was never a consideration in Van's design. Nevertheless, it is something I would consider if I felt I had the backing of BRS Aerospace and Vans.

As a follow up to this for anyone that searches in the future, they are still making it and they were very helpful on the phone when I called.
