Anyone upgrade their legacy strobes to newer Whelen devices? The mounting system on the legacy RV-12 isn’t something I’ve seen on items like the Whalen Blaze which uses two screws.

Any tips would be appreciated.

I recently removed the AeroFlash lights from my RV-6 and installed Whelen Microburst strobes/position lights. I made an adapters out of 0.090 aluminum stock that fit between the new lights and the wingtips. The adapters have two sets of holes, one for the original holes in the wingtip and the other to accommodate the new Whelens. They turned out nicely and eliminated the need for fiberglass work.

You’re aware that ACS explicitly says these lights do not meet 91.205 requirements?
