Yosemite - Pine Mountain Lake (E45)
Got together with my climbing/flying buddies, one that was house sitting. Besides his 170 and my 7a, there was a sweet RV 4 parked in the back. Well, the chit-chat got deep on upcoming flying trips to Mexico and Alaska. Plus, a reminder that it was 30 years ago we climed the Shield Route on El Capitan. And, 20 years ago I (rope) soloed the ‘Tis-as-ack on Half Dome.

Today, took a quick fly-by on the old haunts: El Cap & Half Dome. Yosemite always feels like home.

So, you live in northern California, home of the famous San Francisco fog .. we go weeks under this OVC007 with no sun sometimes. Finally, last summer with the help of a fellow -7 driver and his reactivated CFII, I get my instrument rating. I can now punch through the marine layer and go places easily, yay! But, I still need to practice. All week, we had great lowish ceilings all over the bay area .. every airport was IFR till noon. But, work calls, so I gotta go dig in the mines. Come Saturday, finally, gonna get some actual ... and, it's almost VFR! Had to chase around to find a little bit 'o IMC to get some actual... Did get two approaches in. What's a guy to do? ;) These planes are just as much fun to fly in the clouds as they are out in the bright sunshine.
