Hi everyone, I am new to Vans and the forum. I bought this RV9A in May 2025 from the original builder. It will remain registered in Spain.
First flight in 2013.
Equipment:
Lycoming IO 320DIA carb
Hartzel Constant Speed Prop
Dynon Flightdek 180
Will have lot's of questions regarding upgrades, fixes, maintenance and looking for connections particularly in Europe.

Very nice -9A! And it is equipped much like mine was when I bought it.

You will love it. You have come to the right place.

Wheel pants will make it look even nicer and go faster. So I’d get those first. I’m not a builder, so others here will be more knowledgeable about adding wheel pants.

Upgrades/additions that I have found the most useful, in no particular order:

1. Autopilot - especially if you travel a lot or plan to add IFR capability
2. Supertracks canopy track extensions
3. Bison bags
4. iPad with ForeFlight (or whichever app works best in Spain)
5. Sentry for showing traffic on iPad app, and for monitoring CO.
6. Vic Syracuse’s book on RV maintenance. Priceless.
7. Paid membership on this forum. Many great bargains in the classified ads!

Many other things, but I’ve been thankful for these on a regular basis.

And above all else, the best upgrade to any aircraft is pilot training of any kind!

Have fun and post more photos!

@ Dugaru…
Thank you for the thoughtful reply!

1. It does have the AP74, glad for that.
2. Supertracks look great, need to check if easy enough to install.
3. Will check bison bags
4. Currently using iPad w Skydemon, plan to switch to ForeFlight. Working on the current position in plane with RAM setup..
5. Sentry:. Already ordered a tailbeaconX plus AV30 as I need to upgrade to a mode S transponder and want ADSB out as well. (Don’t understand why that’s optional I Europe)
6. Ordered the book. Thanks.
7. Seems like the thing to do.

Wheel pants: I got those with the plane, but the builder said he would not install them as he sees them as a safety risk for emergency landings. No strong opinion yet. Also reading up on all the problems people have with cracks I at least don’t want to jump into that problem first.
