RV-12 Canopy Struts

I searched for aftermarket struts for mine last year. The thought was they would be cheaper buying from the source. Turned out Vans was the cheapest by far. Just checked, Vans has them in stock $21.48 ea. Part number C-1216-1

I started to take a look at this initially, but it's been on my list to get back to it for a while. When I looked up the manufacturer of the struts I saw some references to how their spec system works. What I was interested in trying to find or order was a strut with just a slightly less range of motion and a little bit more damping when extended. This post is kind of useless since I never landed on anything but maybe someone else is more knowledgeable about this hardware.

Sadly they are not on backorder. Do you happen to remember where you found alternative?

I could not find an exact replacement. It is a 300N Stabilus Lift-O-Mat part number 840585. What I found was similar gas struts at the same or more cost than Van’s was charging.
