RTV on SCAT Tubing

Photos of the factory-built RV-12s show a bead of RTV the full length of each SCAT tube. I don't recall seeing that in the KAI. What is it for?

Spacing. To hold the SCAT tube away from "pointy" edges. Unfamiliar with the photo you refer to and can't image a bead along the entire tube but a small marble sized blob here or there is pretty common.

Typically this is done to prevent the embedded string from completely unwinding if it happens to break. Does it work? Dunno, but it's easy enough to do, so I make a habit of doing it when I install SCAT hose!
