Front seat removal

I want to install the Aerosport seat levers but can't figure out how to remove the front seats. How is this accomplished?

Pull the 4 bolts that attach the seat adjustment handle. The seat will slide off to the rear of the seat rails, but you will need to remove the flap actuator covers first.

You have to remove the seat stops, too.

You don’t need to remove the seat stop if you remove the adjusting handle mechanism.
You need to remove either the adjusting handle or the rear seat stop. Not both.

It’s far easier to remove the seat stop ( I can have a seat out in 60sec) but that only works if the builder has modified the rear seat stop by installing nut plates under the floor.

Typically I only remove 3 of the 4 bolts on the adjustment handle. That 4th bolt just gets loosened so I can swing the handle up and disengage it from the track. I also don’t remove the flap covers. With the carpet still in place, I slide the seat back until it touches the cover and gently lift up and aft and the seat cones off the rails without issue. Also my seats or the rails aren’t modified in any way.

I do the same. I also trimmed about 5/8" off the front of the UHMW material (NOT the metal that encloses it) that engages the seat rails. Makes all the difference in the world--eliminates any consideration of removing carpet and/or the flap actuator cover.

Coincidentally, I traded DMs with Richard a week or so ago about this. His approach seems better still, but I have some interference (lateral) with the seat frame when trying to get a socket on the seat stop bolt head--at least where I had the seat positioned. I'm going to take another look when I'm at the hangar to see if sliding the seat all the way forward resolves the interference.

Some seats will slide out wo taking the flap covers off (like Todd). However, if yours hit, like mine did, all you need to do is put a 45° chamfer on the end of the nylon track(s). Take a close look as you pull the seat back, then tilt it up as you are trying to to remove. The end of the nylon track is the culprit. Take the nylon tracks out, chamfer and reinstall. You are not degrading any function of the seat track. Seats are much easier to remove as you pull back, then tilt up.

Another option is to install nut plates for the adjust lever. I take my seats out a lot. No, I didn’t use invisible rivets. It was a tight spot, so I lock the nut plate down 1st, prior to drilling.
