Looking to source where I can get these dsub crimp connector pins for larger wire gauges. These have a bit of clear heat shrink over the portion that wont fit in the connector body.
The ITT Canon 030-1955-000 pins mentioned above are kind special. Normally the crimp pot is only big enough to accommodate a #20 wire and the whole pin fits inside the connector body. It looks like for these larger crimp pots the pin is longer and the crimp pot sticks outside the connector body. In this case heat shrink is prudent.
The thing I don't understand is the current rating. The normal #20 d-sub pin is rated for 5 amps max. A #18 wire is rated for 10 amps, though. I can't see anywhere in the ITT Canon data sheet where the max current in the pin with the big crimp pot is rated at 10 amps, the rating of the #18 wire. 10 amps is a lot of current through this little pin.
