Hotter in front, or in the rear of the top engine baffle?

The subject of T on top of the engine has already been discussed a couple of times, but in regard to injected engines and their respective spider location.

My engine has purred happily for 20 years, producing 2.2K hours of unaltered pleasure, and is actually being replaced by a brand new version of the same engine, albeit a Thunderbolt YO-360-A1A. Lucky me and my steed ;)
Since I'm very happy with the tried combination of carb, and dual Lightspeed ignition, these will be reused on the new install.

My questions is, is it hotter in front, or in the rear of the top engine baffle? The 4 ignition coils are the originals, and as we all know, the less vibrations, and the less heat, the better. Their present location leads to vibration, but I suspect heat on the spine of the engine lower than if they were installed say on the cross member of the engine mount, rear of the baffle...

Has anyone made some measurements, and would like to comment on anything I missed regarding a location as now, shown by the view.jpgmagenta arrow, vs a possible better location as shown by the yellow arrow?

Current location is coolest in flight. Air temperature at either arrow would be about the same after shutdown.

I would suggest that you remount them as you had them before. They gave you good service in that location, why fix what ain't broke.
 
I put a black dot sticker on my firewall mounted EarthX battery to see if it might benefit from a blast tube and the max it sees is between 150-160, which I suspect happens after shutdown. But it seems logical that the higher you go aft of the baffles the hotter it would get.

If your current location has been trouble free for 20 years/2,200 hours, I'd vote for "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
 
Thanks for the feedback guys, good stuff.

Now that brought an idea that might yield a slight advantage... or not: on the engine mount, but cooled by new blast tube(s) from the baffles. No vibrations, same cooling in flight and on the ground as now.
Downside, slight loss of cooling air to the cylinders...
