Was there a redesign of the nose gear fairing when the new nose leg gear was introduced for the RV-12iS?
36iS/U-16 hasn't been updated since 2018. A few years ago, I reordered a nose gear fairing and hinge because I didn't like how the one I had came out. They've been sitting in a box in the hangar for 3 or 4 years and this week I've tackled it anew.
Figure 4 appears to show a 1" distance between the bottom front corner of the "flange" - for lack of a better term, and the top of that flange at its most forward spot.
But as you can see in my photo, it actually about 2 1/2". It's an important point because that corner is the most left rivet hole to be drilled in the hinge piece and the hinge piece itself will extend another 1" left.
With this callout, the hinge will fall much farther short of the left edge of the fairing than what is indicated in Figure 1 on page 36iS/U-17, a page which was updated about 8 months after the previous page.
Has anyone else encountered this?
