Main Gear Tubes

Recently had to replace two tubes, one each side, one flat away from home and one thankfully in the hangar. Both were pin holes in the side wall with no apparent cause from the tyres GoodYear 3s. Run at minimum 40psi ..Both Tubes were the Aero Classic from Desser bent valve TR 87-70*.
Think others have experienced pin holes with these tubes. In the bent valve configuration I think GoodYear, Aero Classic and possibly Michelin are the options, just wondering what tubes others are using ? Any/all comments appreciated.
 
I had a paper sticker on the inside of the tire wear a hole in the tube.

Removed the sticker and patched the tube for a temp fix till the new tubes came in....
 
Your issue Greg is typical of a tube slipping/movement in tire due to low air pressure. Searching past threads here will show this as an issue. Most I know run 35-50 psi in mains .
 
My GY Flight III’s call for 68 psi. I run 65, with the 90° valve. No air leakage in 6 mos. Went to these after sealed bearing mod.

That is the purpose of tire Talc..... Don't just sprinkle some on the inside of the tire. Take a rag and rub into the full inside of the tire. Don't get any on the bead. Inflate the the tube just enough to bring to size and rub it with talc all the way around before placing in tire. Once the tube is inside the tire, grab the stem and make sure it slides inside the tire before mounting the rim. The two rim pieces should "click" contact to ensure tube is not pinched.

Any inflation number printed on a tire is MAX PRESSURE for that tire and not the pressure you would run on our 1700# airplanes.
That's why you see most inflate mains to around 40# + or -. The lower the pressure, the more the tube has to slide around and cause issues.

They do have the 90 degree valve. Not sure about the RV10 size, but the 5.00 x 5 for us smaller planes (RV7a) shows part number 092-308-0.
And, I realize you're in Australia, so not sure if AS is an option for shipping.
