RV 10 Oil Seperator/Crankcase Evacuation

I know some have installed the AntiSplatAero oil separator, crankcase evacuation combo. The install was straight forward, although not a one day job for me.

The instructions appear to show the vacuum (one way) valve installed on the 45° down pipe. That would put the valve into the FW and not possible on a stock RV 10. (My stock RV 10)

Although the vacuum (one way) valve on mine does fit and most likely is sealed just fine, the aesthetics are not pretty and it looks like an incorrect install. If the valve was moved forward under the cable bracket clamp, that would have required redesigning of that important bracket. I was not willing to modify that design. The cable bracket is what keeps the tailpipe off the corner of the lower cowl, along with the side clamps with the rubber sleeves.

I sent a few emails to Alan/James, but have had no response, which is unlike them. I like the products I have previously purchased from them.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I agree that it looks like an incorrect install or construction. A exhaust system is a critical installation.
If one or both hose clamps fail in the air, you may have a serious problem that can quickly start a fire.
Even if the risk for a failure may seem smal the consequences would be serious.
Flying involves risks that I'm willing to accept but flying permanently with this installation would not be my choice.
If it had been my aircraft I see two options. Have the vacuum valve attachment TIG-welded on the exhaust pipe or remove the AntiSplat system and then
repair (TIG-weld) the exhaust system.

Good luck
