vertical power vp200

I'm New Here
I have a RV10 with a Vertical Power VP200. I have never been able to get all of the engine data from my advanced flight 3500 and 3400 into my VP200.
I can get oil pressure and oil temperature but no fuel tank level or fuel pressure. there are just big red x's on the screen. Any help would be appreciated !
Thanks Ron

Call advanced and have them talk you through this.
I feel compelled to warn you that the vp200 is no longer supported, so they can’t help, but it left me stuck on the ground when I got a CU failure. I have since pulled it all out and rebuilt everything with good ole switches from McMaster . Just make sure you have a starter bypass or you’ll be stuck one day too. Otherwise loved it when it worked!

Thanks! I'll try advanced flight.
I already have a starter bypass just in case.

I have a VP-200 and had similar issues when setting it up to communicate with my AFS EFIS. Here are two pics of my set-up that might help if compared to what you are using. But I don't look at fuel pressure, manifold pressure or tank level on my VP-200, so it may not help you but might point you in the right direction.

If you don't get this resolved, I can step through my set-up more closely and tell you what it is. But I won't be able to help at that level for another 30 to 45 days because my plane is apart and awaiting paint, and is currently about 3.5 hrs (drive time) from me.

Thanks for the help!
my setup is different. I used EIS Chelton output for a lot of mine. I will try your setup and let you know.
I don't need the Fuel info from the VP screen but It bothers me that It's not working correctly and people ask What are the big red X's for.
Thanks again.

It's been a bit since I've set mine up, but I think you can eliminate the items you don't want (or those that aren't working as you want them to) in the set-up, so the 'big red X's' don't populate. I've seen them, I know ...............

Thanks for the Pictures! I switched my setup to match yours and everything is working great. I haven't flown it yet but I'm very hopeful.
Thanks again!

There should be no unwanted red X's with a correct setting both in AFS and the VP200...
The only time i have seen red X's is maybe 6 times in 14 years or so, when the serial chip on the VP200 seemed to hang at a warm boot typically on the second flight of the day and no serial data was then displayed. A simple reboot (before any engine operation etc...) always solved the issue.

I'm still trying to reverse engineer the software/display unit, but making only very slow progress... As long as it's not acting up in the plane, there's probably not enough urgency ;-) what an awesome system, to this day. ahead of its time.
If there's an avid java developer interested in helping with reverse engineering work, please speak up. The goal would be to still keep most functionality and not require any changes to the CU and SP / wiring, as typically the DU's seem to go dead. And basically have something like a raspberry pi or other embedded system replace the display unit logic.

Can you explain the starter bypass issue? I have a RV6 with VP200. I installed the battery wrong and now the battery connector circuit doesn't work. I'm going to try and install a master switch separate to bypass the circuit. When I try and start it now the 20 amp fuse blows. If I ground the battery connector solenoid it seems to work OK.
What failed on your CU?
