Well tonight 789PH rolled over 3000 hrs on the Hobbs. After a Flight review yesterday with kind gentleman who did her first flight a little over 18 years ago, she was sitting at 2999, so I had some work to do! This evening was cool and clear - a great night to do what I do several times a week, fly and capture photos. These are my stomping grounds, and it is the most beautiful time of the year!

First the proof -

We were going nowhere fast at 5GPH, burning the ever controversial mogas - it works well for me

This plane has taken us all over the country, to weddings, funerals, dozens of dog rescues, college visits for 3 kids, tailgating, and national parks. It's been a godsend when our mothers have been ill to make timely visits. Above all, it has been a crapton of fun just jumping in and going flying.

I'll never catch Vlad or Turbo in hours, but I'll have a blast trying! Thanks to all the great people who have helped along the way - I am very grateful. With luck, I will reply to this post when I flip over 6000 hours!!!

Very nice flight with great pictures. You using your phone to take them?
I have good memories of similar flights I made 45 years ago, mostly over eastern St Paul, Lake Elmo, White Bear Lake, Hastings area. Several big differences, I did not do it weekly as I was paying for college so very little money and i was in a rented Tomahawk, not an RV I built.

Thanks Phil - Yes - an older IPhone Pro - it's the best camera I own right now!

I just got an iPhone 16 Pro. It appears to actually be a very sophisticated camera that happens to have a cellular telephone attached as an convenient afterthought.

3000 hours on mogas without overhaul, Pete!

We overhauled at 2800, but only due to a prop strike - the engine looked great inside! Hoping for 3000+ this time!

As the “old aviation fossil” that did the initial flight of 89PH way back when…. Congrats Pete of 3000 hours of RV adventures. Here’s to 3000 more!!!!!!

3000! Wow, that is great Pete. I just went over 300! Ha! I dont think I will catch up but Im having fun trying. I may head over to see Stein to look at a couple things. I will let you know - maybe we can get lunch or say hi!

I'm only at 1800 on 93E10, but my cylinders are all at 78 and 79 on compression, borescopes look great, makes great power still. I picked up a spare set of cylinders a while back and sent them in for overhaul, just to have on hand for the day when they are needed.
