NGK Plugs

I’ve been using NGK Plugs in my Aerosport IO-375 during Phase 1. I just received another set for spares. Top box is what I’ve been using. Bottom is just received. Although the BR8ES numbers match, the stock and sku differ. Also slight differences in the boxes and labeling. Anyone see this before? I believe I’ve heard of counterfeit knock offs. IMG_1074.jpeg

please be very careful of counterfeit ngk plugs! after covid they have flooded the market. I have heard of a counterfeit ngk plug melting and causing an engine out and off airport landing.

The safeiest way to avoid counterfeit plugs is to only buy from NGK.com , avoid ebay, amazon, local sellers, etc

When you go to their website, there is a list of stores where to buy and I didn’t see direct purchase. Did I miss it?

NGK.com is not NGK. It is a reseller. It might be a very good reseller. But the actual NGK USA site is www.ngksparkplugs.com

Don't ever buy NGKs from Amazon or eBay. Huge problem with counterfeits. As mentioned before you want to get the solid-tip version (model 3961)

Where to buy from factory NGK site:

Advance Auto Parts
Autopride
Autovalue / Bumper to Bumper
Autozone
Carquest
Federated
Napa
O'reilly Auto Parts
Parts Authority
Parts Plus
Pronto
Sparkplugs.com (same reseller as NGK.com)
Summit Racing
Sixity Auto
Stockwiseauto
West Marine

Is there a “Tell” to detect counterfeit plugs? I’ve bought from NAPA and AutoZone.

There are YouTube videos that explain the very slight differences between real and counterfeit. Not sure I can trust a YouTuber anymore than buying them online from amazon so I just buy from a reputable source.
