Mounting Airflow Performance Fuel Pump

I'm getting ready to install the Airflow Performance fuel pump (instead of Andair supplied by Vans) as well as the Aircraft Specialty fuel lines. I'd appreciate any general advice but one specific question is how to mount the AFP pump. Doesn't look like it fits in the space Vans provides (I have a QB fuselage). Any advice?

I didn't have any problem mounting mine in the space provided but one thing I did learn is when you remove the caps on the fuel pump to attach the fuel lines, preservative oil pours out. Because of that I chose to quickly put the caps back on and I didn't attach the Aircraft Specialty fuel lines as I won't get my engine for another couple of years.

It fits but I found that the outlet hose touched the tunnel cover plate. I made spacer strips for the cover plate to raise it 1/16". All Aircraft Specialty parts.

Thanks. As it turns out for some reason I ordered the wrong kit from Aircraft Specialty. I knew I needed the one for the AFP fuel pump and wing root fuel filters but screwed up somewhere in the process and got the kit for the stock Vans pump and system. Arranged today for the proper kit to be shipped. But thanks for the additional tips.

I tilted mine a little to the left and it helped with the output fuel line clearance and with the mounting of the remote canopy jettison. It doesn't take much...

Don’t fancy selling the Andair pump do you?

Jonnyb are you still interested in the andair fuel pump. Let me know. I will be putting in the AFP pump on the my RV 14.

Thanks for asking, but I have gone with the AFP pump too.
If you’re looking to get rid of it they are quite sought after this side of the Atlantic.

I am looking to sell it. I am going to be at The builders assist( Synergy Air South) May 5 - May 19 were the pump was delivered this week.I just received it from Vans as it was back ordered. My email is [email protected] The pump on Vans website sells for 1170.00 if any one is interested I’ll sell it for 1000.00 plus what ever shipping costs. Let me know and I hope your building is coming along the way you expected.

I’ll also add the RV 14 fuel valve for 100.00
Bob----our mounting plate for the pump is drilled to mount on the original Andair pump mounts in the tunnel. The AFP pump mounts ( supply end aft) and located by the valve discharge line. Install that line, loosely, then install the pump, connecting the supply line. Leave everything loose temporarily. The install the discharge hose to the firewall. Depending on how much stuff is in the tunnel, you may need to cock it slightly left or right. Doesnt change the length of the lines, and doesnt affect the performance of the pump. Once located, tighten the clamp, tighten the line nuts, connect the electrical. I'd remove the plug in the top of the supply manifold and prime the pump, to keep it from a dry run..

Our install guide is on our website, https://aircraftspecialty.com/rv-14.html, under AFP conversion. Click the PDF.
