GTX 35R rack installation question

42NiS-12 says simply "Install the 115-01771-00 GTX 35R Rack as shown in Figure 2" which shows four AN507-632R6 screws into the Garmin Xpndr bracket. Fair enough.

But there's no access for a screwdriver to get at those screws because they're blocked by the top of the GTX 35R rack.

What's the secret here? Ratcheting screwdriver?

yes that is what I used. I considered drilling a hole directly above the screws but didn't go that route.

I think I put a Phillips head bit in a 1/4in socket drive to get to it. That wasn’t very effective but it worked….I also considered drilling an access hole but checked out.

I used a ratcheting screwdriver. Something like this one:


If there's a Harbor Freight nearby, looks like you can pick one up for $3.49. https://www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-right-angle-screwdriver-92630.html. This isn't the exact one I used, but looks very similar.

I ended up drilling a hole through the mounting bracket so that I could use a regular screw driver. The less special tools you need out in the field, the better. It didn't seem like an extra hole in it would affect anything. I was surprised it didn't already have a hole.
