Default Garmin G3x / GSA 28 servo question?

I am installing the ID strap jumpers in the servo Dsub connectors. Garmin says pin 8 is a ground and can be used for both jumpers in the PITCH servo. Just double checking, is this correct ?

Also, I am a newbie to GLASS. If I install these IDstraps now, can I just learn to use the autopilot on G3x TOUCH without having to fight the flight director ? My initial objective is wings level and course tracking. Will the trim function work with Garmin servos only, no third party ie. Ray Allen etc.

I appreciate your patience and advice.

Default Definitely electric (auto) trim with new AP's

Good Decision. My early generation G3X panel with AP does not have auto trim, and my 10Friend does. It is really nice. I sometimes notice a jitter in the AP roll servo, a tiny little action but found it was due needing roll trim. I don't have servo roll torque feedback, so have to disconnect AP adjust and reconnect. IMC flight makes that a few extra steps.

You will truly love this once tuned.

I have the TruTrak 385 A/P and was recently given an unused auto trim module by a friend who installed his A/P onto a manually trimmed RV. Had Steinair build a plug and play wiring harness and as soon as it turns warm plan to install it in my airplane.

Really looking forward to the day that I donít interpret which way the autopilot is telling me to trim the airplane to keep it from bucking as I change airspeed and configuration.

The servo acts directly on the elevator; the trim motor on the trim tab. The Ďautotrimí sends electrical power to the trim motor, whether itís made by Ray Allen or anyone.
