Wing spars

It says to prime the holes after countersinking the spar. What ideas are there out there on doing this with out making a mess.

On pretty easy option: I put some primer in a cup, and used a q-tip to touch up each countersunk hole. No mess.

Masking tape

Another idea is to apply a strip of that blue masking tape over the flange before countersinking. Then when you countersink through the tape, you end up with perfectly masked holes ready to be sprayed.

Don't forget to set your microstop cage a couple clicks deeper to compensate for the tape thickness.

Good luck,

We alodined ours. Just take a little acid brush and dip it in Alodine, then put a drop in the countersink. Surface tension will hold the drop there, completely filling the hole/countersink...you can do a couple dozen, let them sit for a bit, then wipe down with a wet paper towel and blow dry. Looks nice, quick and easy, and no need to mess with paint (also avoids the loss of countersink depth due to paint thickness).

Just another option...
