Wing Spar Prep

I put a small scratch on a flange of one spar and was going to buff it out when I thought about the numbers etched into the spar at the factory. I guess they are part numbers and/or serial numbers, but they are MUCH deeper and larger than my small scratch.

Question: Do I need to do anything to smooth out the etched numbers? Hit them with scotchbrite or something? I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere in the instructions.

You don't need to do anything with the numbers (I did not at least). You will probably need to buff out your scratch. The numbers are made by an engraver/vibrating pencil (lots of small pokes) instead of one scratch/stress riser.

I bought two bags of these. They work great, are cheep, but don't last too long.

They are great for buffing out small scratches.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jeremy, that's what I needed to know. I'll just take care of the scratch and leave the rest. ;)
