Wing Rear Spar

I am prepping the rear wing spars and match drilling the aileron hinge doublers. The plans state to trace and cut out the aileron pushrod hole in the doubler. However, the plans show a symetrical, oblong hole and my spar has an assymetrical pear shaped hole.

Is something wrong here or are the plans a little simplistic?

I'm pretty sure they started enlarging the hole on the spar to avoid aileron pushrod interference. My early-2008 QB wings have the pear-shaped hole you describe. Maybe they didn't update the plans. In any case, I'd make the doubler to match the existing hole in the spar.

The early wings all had a hole that was rectangular and actually needed to be opened up a bit for clearance with the pushrod. Not sure when they changed the hole, but it was changed because of the clearance issue.

Thanks for the info guys. Guessed it was something like that. Thought I would try for the quick answer before going to VANS!
