Where to Safety Oil tank Drain?

yankee-flyer

Well Known Member
I seem to be a little late but have just drained the oil as part of the 25-hour inspection and realized that there's a hole in the frain plug to safety the plug. I don't recall any mention of doing that in the instructions and don't see any reasonable place to run a safety wire without having it in contact with the tank. Anybody know where to safety that thing?

THANKS

Drain safety wire

Wayne,
The boss on the bottom of the tank that the drain plug screws into is drilled for the safety wire. I am surprised your tank drain did not come safety wired from the factory, but in any case the drilled hole must be there.

The Line Maintenence Manual has you safety wire the drain plug in Section 12-20-00, page 49, step 6: http://www.rotax-aircraft-engines.com/portaldata/5/dokus/d04931.pdf

The illustrated parts catalog shows a short piece of safety wire on page 16-2, it even has a part number.
