What's this switch?

Sorry I am not allowed to post attachments or I'd have a picture to express a thousand words, but the switch in question is on the back side of my 0-360 right above the screw on oil filter. It has a cable exiting at 90deg at what looks like a diaphram case that screws into a threaded coupling which screws into a reducer which then screws into the engine case. Thanks for your reply.

A picture would tell us for sure, but I can't think of a single "switch" on a stock 360. What you are describing could be an oil temperature sender or possibly a tach sending unit - the tach output is right above the oil filter.

OK thanks for the info on posting. Here is the switch in question....

Mystery switch

That's a tach sender (transducer). Most folks get their tach inputs off their mag P-lead, output from their ignition or sensor on side of their mag. You get yours directly off your cam shaft thru the transducer.
