What is this?

Mornin,

I inventoried the tail kit last night and there was this piece in there. It looks a little like some kind of sizing piece.

It says along the top "rest head on this edge" and there are 4 holes on the left size that have holes labelled #6, #8, AN3 and AN4.

Cheers

template

Hi,

it's a template for Bolts. Very useful, you can check the lenght of bolts and the right diameter.

4 holes for diameters (AN3, AN4 ....)

If you search you'll find a paper with template instructions

Get a real bolt gauge. Avery and other suppliers sell a simple easy to use bolt gauge, Avery's is $15. I bought one early on while building and used it thousands of times.

If you're just getting started, it will help you to learn with bolt is which. And while you're at it, if you don't have rivet gauges, get some.

how about a tool you can't lose

Not that I lose tools very often (and never permanantly.)

Am I being too simple here....

or you could measure it in 8ths for length and 16ths for diameter and save your 15 bucks.
