Launched into clearing skies this morning out of Cartersville GA to take my son to Sulphur Springs TX. Ugly headwinds along the way - took 4.5 hours (including a fuel stop) to get there. Average groundspeed during the flight was 135 knots. Turned out I had enough fuel to do it non-stop, but sweating fuel is for dummies and wartime.
Landed in Texas, dropped off our son with his Grandparents, loaded back up and rode the nice winds back to Georgia with an average groundspeed of 180 knots for a 3 hour trip. Much better!
