Took advantage of the 40* wx and did a little work in the pattern yesterday. Wind was calm and was almost impossible to have anything but perfect landings. Put a smile on my face and made me think I was bob hoover for a short moment. Calm winds are not something we see often this time of year and next time likely back to 20 kt cross wind and wishing I was based at an airport with 2 runways. My field is a bit notorious and most local CFI's exclude it from their solo endorsement.
Finally, got to go for a short flight for the first time since mid-November. It felt good to get the RV back in the air after 6wks and me off the surface since Dec. 4th. (Spent most of the month in the simulator- I feel your pain DR)
Why so long? I had to repair all three legacy G3x displays that cracked, one spectacularly. If you find yourself in this predicament and would like a less expensive fix, send me a PM. Also, reinforced my panel in the one area that I think was part of the problem.
Installed a Tanis preheat system- yes, it does get cold in Georgia.
