Weight & Balance

After reading many different posts I'm hearing that the 7 is cg challenged. I am reading about having to add weight to the front of a/c and putting 20 lb crushplates on prop to keep it balanced. Does this mean if I don't want a constant speed prop I should stay with the 7A? Better question, is the 7A much more forgiving of loads in baggage compartment than a 7?
Thanks,
Bill

We just weighed our 7a this weekend. Came in at 1055 and 80.3 inches. We knew from the start that we would be at the aft end. But under all conditions we are no closer than 0.4 inches to the aft limit.

I think there is a weight and balance database out there somewhere. My 7 with IO-360 and MT 2 blade composite C/S prop (I don't have the exact weight, I think about 40 lb) is for all practical purposes impossible to load outside the normal cg limits.
