Vans RV-10 Stall warner

We have a stall warner that sounds at least 10 kts before the stall ie far too early.

Will bending the brand new vane down lower the warning speed?

I think it will. Hope so anyway, since I installed on on my RV-3B and expect to need to adjust it.

My vote would be to make it sound where you want it to in level flight. It'll go off at that same AOA in accelerated flight, giving you an appropriate warning.

Vane bending

From page 19-5 of the RV-10 wing instructions, step 10:

When properly adjusted, the stall warning will sound when approximately 10 mph above actual stall speed. Flight test and make adjustments as needed. Bend the VA-196 Vane up for higher speed activation, and down for lower speed activation. See Page 19-3 Figure 3.

Thank you for all of your help.

As I read the plans the vane had to be perpendicular to the curve of the leading edge. However bending the vane down significantly seems to have delayed the onset speed markedly and although not yet perfect seems to be far more realistic.
