utilising the tunnel cover

I have been thinking about using the tunnel cover as a mounting place for something like the carbon monoxide detector or the cigar 12v power supply, only becuase I'm tight on space on my panel. Has anyone used the tunnel cover for instruments or switches or is it a bad idea?

With two passengers in the cockpit, it's cozy to say the least. I think if you get a large passenger, the legs/hips would encroach on your switch. Now, maybe a fake switch would be good for when you have a very cute passenger. ''Pardon me, honey, I'm just activating the Illudium PU-36 Explosive Space Modulator."

Although Don has a good idea, the truth is that would put the switches a bit far away to reach. In addition, that cover has to come off for the condition inspection, so the switches and their wiring might cause you some problems.
