i posted earlier that the lp4-3 rivits were too long at the trailing edge holes.after getting some good advice from others here i talked to the factory rep for the rivets. i have come away with a couple recommendations that should make the squeezing more likely to succeed.
since a constant pressure on the rivet is supposed to help the material slide along the rivet shank a little oil or grease on the rivet is likely to help. i also tried several rivets after i had ground off most of the end of the mandrel. that allowed the rivets to be inserted further, only half as much sticking up.
and.....vans supplies rivets that are shorter to get around this problem when installing the trim tab on the rudder. it is rivet ad41h.
hope this helps anyone who might come across this.
