As pilots, we are all students of the weather.
Over the years I have read a number of books describing how weather forms, what makes the wind blow, etc. Growing up on the Great Lakes and hearing the stories about this storm from the Old Timers always peaked my interest.
White Hurricane, A Great Lakes November Gale and America?s Deadliest Maritime Disaster by David G. Brown really drove home how weather is formed and it describes the beginning of our current weather reporting system.
Even though it is about shipping on the Great Lakes, it is good read for any weather geek.
