Trying not to screw up rudder

On the rudder skin, the little slit that goes over the rudder horn. Does it need to be enlarged to fit over horn?

If after you've cleakoed the skin on, and find you have clearance issues, you will have to do a little fileing.
This will hold true through the remainder of the project as well. There's not lot of this, but as Van's says "make it fit".

My dim memory says that I didn't need to enlarge this slot when I was building mine (FWIW).

I did a little bit of trimming here to make it fit on my 9, I believe is the same or similar as on a 7.

Yes, get a small file in there and enlarge it. Make sure you then smooth the opening with some 600 grit, or whatever. Don't make a press fit between the skin and horn.
