Recently took a trip, with a very special friend, from Indiana to San Diego to see my youngest son, Ryan, graduate from the Marine Corp Recruit Depot. The trip started out from my home-base in northwest Indiana that included stops in Raton, NM...Page, AZ...San Diego, CA...San Francisco, CA...Tacoma, WA...and Cheyenne, WY. After nearly 4,800 nautical miles and 37.5 flaw-less flight hours, we saw some AMAZING parts of the country. The RV-9 flew wonderful and purred like a kitten. Our altitudes en-route ranged from 8,500' to 12,500' (with supplemental oxygen). Average groundspeed was 140 kts with a 6-6.5 gph fuel burn. We attached a Go-Pro camera to the tie-down attach point under the right wing and shot some amazing video. I attached one of the videos, shot over Monument Valley and Lake Powell, to inspire those still in the building phase. Keep pounding those rivets.....it's totally worth it! Finally, a big "atta-boy" to my son, Ryan! Very proud of you! And a "high five" to my friend Tracy for making a once far-off dream in an RV, become a reality!! You're an awesome co-pilot!!
