Trimming the RV-8 top skin flap root

The curve on the template is 1/4” oversized and states trim to fit. When trimmed, how close to accurate was the 1/4”? Would you recommend cutting the extra quarter inch at first and tweak it when installing?

The short answer is no.

Follow the plans. Very easy to trim once the wing is on the plane and the flap is on the wing.
