Trimming longerons to fit the side skin and firewall

Hello all,

I'm getting ready to trim the F-718L/R longeron forward ends to leave the 3/4" gap required between the longeron and the forward edges of the F-770 side skins. My question is where to measure that 3/4" distance. The longeron and skin forward edges aren't parallel...

...and there's about 1/16" difference in the gap from top to bottom.

I'm probably missing something obvious here, or maybe that 1/16" difference doesn't matter. But after all the effort I've put into getting these longerons bent and fitted, I'd rather ask a dumb question than screw 'em up.

So...where do I measure?

Thanks!

Dave

I used my angle finder to match the angle of the skin to the longeron. Just undo the cleco pull the side skin away and transfer the angle then trim away. The bottom line is the end of the longeron is parallel to the skin. Hope this helps you out.
