Before I start trimming and making any cuts, what gap should I be looking for between the trim tab and elevator?

I've seen it so it has to be in the drawings. If it isn't there, then look the plans. :) If I recall it was minumum 3/32", but don't rely on that. So this is for the gap on the tab 's shorter end.

The gap between leading edge of trim tab and trailing edge of the elevator, I would make sure that the whole trailing edge is straight from the tip (elevator) to root (tab).

As I'm not native Englishman some things are just hard to say. Hopefully you got answer you looked for.

Yeah, trailing edge aligned, and INBOARD edge aligned as well, and it should fall right into the right spot, gap and all.
