Transponder and D-180 Questions

Two questions for those who are flying:

1) My transponder automatically goes out of standby mode after takeoff but it is not returning to standby mode automatically when we land. My EAA tech counselor has considerable experience with this transponder and indicates it should do so automatically. Anyone else encountered this?

2) Yesterday while flying, I noted something strange on the D-180 that I have never seen before. To the right of the altimeter ribbon, you have the reference scale that stretches from +2000 to -2000 feet. The lower 1000 foot section (-1 to -2) of the scale was flickering. Everything else on the D-180 was fine and everything in the proximity of the portion that was flickering looked fine. Anyone else seen anything like this?

Thanks

Jeff

TXP

Jeff,
That is normal ops for the 327 Transponder. You need an airspeed switch or a certified GPS to turn the txp. Back off.
