Tip: Scribing lines on stiffeners

I recently needed to scribe the line on the empenage stiffeners and found that attempts to hold a straight edge down the length of the stiffener was quite a challenge.

I decided to take a piece of the stiffener that had been cut from one end, measure in from the edge just the right amount, drill a #40 hole, de-burr the hold and the ends. Then place the scrap on top of the stiffener, put the tip of my sharpie in the hole, and slide it down the length of the stiffener. Worked so good I thought I'd share it.

Here are pictures. (Note that the first hole I drilled was in the wrong place, that's why there are two holes).

I like it too. It's cheaper at Avery, but they seem to be out of stock right now.
