Tip: Hobbs Meter Location

I wanted a Hobbs meter in my RV-6A Tip Up, but did not want to take up any of the scarce panel space for this non-flight critical (my opinion, and I can't ever recall looking at a Hobbs meter in flight) item. Also, I did not want the Hobbs meter in the engine compartment, firewall forward, environment.

I decided to mount the Hobbs meter to the sub-panel that is 6 inches or so behind (forward??) of the instrument panel. This allows me to check the "oil pressure" time only while on the ground and with the tip-up canopy in the up /open position.

Hope this helps...

For the same reason I mounted mine behind the pax on the baggage firewall upper area. I can turn and see it if needed but it does not take space in my 6A slider.
